Study details topics nurses should discuss to discharge children safely

To discharge children safely from inpatient care to home, nurses should discuss emergency management, physiological needs, medical device and medications management, and short-term and long-term management, a systematic review found. Published this week in the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s Journal of Patient Safety Network, the review of 15 studies undertaken throughout the world underscores how pediatric hospital nurses ensure high-quality care and patient safety. The authors believe their results can aid the nursing profession in implementing comprehensive discharge projects. (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Journal of Patient Safety study, 2/21/24)
