RWJF fellow shares advice on policy advocacy

During the 2018-2019 legislative season, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) fellow Ellen Kurtzman, PhD, RN, was positioned in the office of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Cal., where she observed how nurses, physicians and other health care stakeholders delivered their policy messages. After her experience, Kurtzman offered insight into how nurses and nursing organizations can improve their advocacy efforts. Kurtzman also encouraged nurses to familiarize themselves with broader issues such as health insurance coverage and affordability to better address questions outside their own daily practice.
