Nursing schools to identify traits of inclusive learning environments

Fifty schools of nursing from 28 states will participate in a national initiative intended to foster inclusive learning environments and build a more diverse nursing workforce. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), with funding from Johnson & Johnson, will administer its Leading Across Multidimensional Perspectives (LAMP) Culture and Climate Survey. The survey will collect data on student, faculty and staff perceptions of their college classrooms in areas such as fair treatment and discrimination, belongingness and the value of diversity and inclusion. AACN will use the data to provide institution-level assessments and action reports in 2023 to participating schools related to developing inclusive academic environments. The organization will also use the aggregate data to identify best practices and success strategies institutions can use nationwide.  (AACN news release, 7/28/22)
