Nurse invents better way to dispense disposable gloves

Ellen Quintana, a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Nursing, was awarded a patent for her product, which reduces waste and contamination of disposable gloves. As a first-year student, Quintana observed how glove packaging made it impossible to remove one glove from a box without spilling others onto the floor. With the university and other grant support, she collaborated with students at the university’s School of Engineering senior design program to develop glove packaging that allows removal of individual gloves, reducing waste.
