NCSBN issues recommendations on vaccine administration

To build public trust in the process for vaccinating people against COVID-19, the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) issued recommendations this week. The document notes that COVID-19 vaccines can be safely administered by licensed practical nurses/vocational nurses (LPNs/VNs), RNs and APRNs, in addition to other licensed health care providers such as physicians, physician assistants and pharmacists. Student nurses supervised by qualified licensed personnel may also administer the vaccine safely. The full set of NCSBN recommendations on COVID-19 vaccine administration is available on the NCSBN website. (NCSBN news release, 12/15/20)
