Health and well-being top concerns in nationwide nurse survey

The American Nurses Foundation surveyed 22,000 nurses across the nation to learn about pressing topics in the profession, including mental health, vaccines and finances. Findings related to mental health showed the pandemic has particularly affected younger nurses, leaving them feeling exhausted (81%), overwhelmed (71%) and anxious (65%). The majority of respondents (70%) reported receiving the vaccine, but barriers exist for those remaining. Additionally, respondents ranked family finances as a top concern, with one in five nurses saying they are worse off now than they were before the outbreak of COVID-19. Although 85% reported no intention to leave the profession, those considering leaving cited health and well-being as primary concerns. (American Nurses Foundation news release, 3/10/21)
