Coalition launches health equity tracker platform

A coalition of researchers and advocates launched a portal last week aimed at collecting, analyzing and sharing data on health inequities. The data tracker was created by the Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine, which developed the tool with funding and resources from Google.org, Gilead Sciences, the Annie E. Casey Foundation and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Foundation. In the tracker’s display, 38% of federally collected COVID-19 cases reported unknown race and ethnicity. The creators hope the tracker will inspire others to fill gaps in health equity data and empower communities to make change. (STAT News article, 5/26/21)
