Cadet Nurse Corps recognition included in House bill

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2022 (H.R. 4350), was passed by the House last week. The bill includes the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps Service Recognition Amendment (H.R. 2568/S.1220), legislation which would provide nurses who served as members of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II with honorable discharge from the Department of Defense, a service medal and a graveside marker. The House sponsor of the recognition legislation, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos, D-Ill., offered the amendment. AONL and other members of the Nursing Community Coalition have been advocating for passage of the act. (AACN’s Washington Weekly article, 9/29/21)
