CMS releases Maternity Care Action Plan

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) this week released a plan to improve health outcomes and reduce inequities for people during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. The agency invited health care stakeholders, including health care facility leaders, to share best practices and commitments to strengthen maternal health. The Department of Health and Human Services also announced $8.5 million in funding initiatives designed to reduce maternal deaths and complications disproportionately affecting minority populations and those living in rural areas.
