AONL voices support for Healthcare Workforce Resilience Act

AONL, the AHA and 50 other national organizations voiced support this week for the Healthcare Workforce Resilience Act (H.R. 6205/S. 3211). The bipartisan bill would recapture 25,000 unused employment-based visas for foreign-born nurses and 15,000 foreign-born physicians to help address staffing shortages. In letters sent to the bill’s House and Senate sponsors, the groups state nursing and physician shortages contribute to “increased wait times and reduced overall access to health services, which ultimately leads to worsening health conditions and outcomes.” The legislators reintroduced the bill in November 2023.
