AHA supports legislation to study travel nursing industry

This week, Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., introduced American Hospital Association (AHA)-supported legislation that would direct the Government Accountability Office to study the travel nursing industry’s business and payment practices, including their impact on workforce shortages and potential price gouging during the COVID-19 pandemic. “Many hospitals and health systems are facing significant financial and operational concerns as a result of the unsustainable rates charged by travel nurse staffing agencies,” AHA said in a letter of support. “We thank you for introducing your bill, which will highlight many of these concerns.” (AHA News article, 6/6/22)
