NCC applauds Congress for 2022 appropriations to support nursing

The Nursing Community Coalition (NCC), to which AONL belongs, applauded Congress for passing the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022 (H.R. 2471) last week. The legislation contained $280 million for Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs, an increase of $16 million over fiscal year 2021 levels, and $181 million for the National Institute of Nursing Research, an increase of almost $6 million over the previous fiscal year. Congress also provided significant funding for sexual assault nurse examiners; studies and grants to improve models of maternal care for racial and ethnic minorities; and investments in a rural maternal and obstetric care training program.
