Hassmiller reflects on advances in nursing leadership during her career

When she started her career, Sue Hassmiller, PhD, RN, never imagined she would one day support the development of nursing leadership programs “that have produced some our country’s top nursing leaders,” she wrote in a blog post this month. Hassmiller stepped down from her role as senior advisor for nursing at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation after 25 years with the organization, which has long supported nursing leadership through its prestigious fellow and scholar programs. Hassmiller also served as senior scholar in residence at the National Academy of Medicine, overseeing two reports on the profession’s future. The first of these stressed the need for nurses to continue their educations and called for more nurses to serve on boards. (LinkedIn article, 4/19/22)
