AHA requests funding for nursing workforce development programs

This week, the American Hospital Association (AHA) sent letters to both House and Senate appropriations committees requesting $530 million for Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development programs in fiscal year 2023. “The workforce crisis facing our nation necessitates bold increases in HRSA discretionary programs that address workforce challenges,” the letters stated. “It is imperative that funding for these programs reflects the heightened needs of our communities, especially as nurses across the country remain on the front lines of this [COVID-19 pandemic] public health crisis.” The AHA also requested $210 million for the National Institute of Nursing Research, one of 27 institutes of the National Institutes of Health. (AHA News article, 5/5/22)
