Virtual Nursing at the Crossroads: To Scale or Not to Scale
Over 2/3 of recently surveyed nurse leaders report that virtual nursing is integral to acute care delivery. However, the 2024 virtual nursing landscape largely reflects myriad med surg pilots with limited appetite for expansion. This session will challenge nurse leaders to move beyond model pilots. High-impact opportunities and essential building blocks for optimizing virtual nursing across the entire clinical enterprise will be examined. In addition, overarching questions concerning the evolution of virtual nursing as a nursing specialty as well as the over-due need for research in key practice areas will be highlighted.
