NCC Urges Senate to Reauthorize Title VIII

The Nursing Community Coalition (NCC) is urging Congress to advance the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2019 (S.1399), a bipartisan bill that would reauthorize nursing workforce development programs through 2024. In a letter to the chair and ranking member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, the group points out that Title VIII funds are “essential to safeguarding the availability of nursing care, especially in rural and underserved areas. These programs are crucial to ensuring that we are able to connect patients with high-quality care across a variety of settings including in community health centers, hospitals, long-term care facilities, local and state health departments, schools, workplaces, and patients’ homes.” AONL is a member of the coalition and signed the letter. NCC looks forward to working with Congress to ensure passage of the bill. (NCC news release, 9/5/19)
