Study: Early aspirin use lowers in-hospital COVID-19 deaths for some patients

In a cohort study of 112,269 U.S. adult patients with moderate COVID-19, aspirin use during the first day of hospitalization was associated with lower 28-day in-hospital mortality and pulmonary embolism incidence when compared with patients who did not receive early aspirin. The researchers found the rate of pulmonary embolism, but not deep vein thrombosis, was also significantly lower in patients who received aspirin. (JAMA Open Network article, 3/24/22)
